Build A Link

If you want to set up a link from your pages to the eCOMpal shopping cart, this is the screen that will help you develop the links so you can get started immediately. Not that when you click the "See The Result" button below, you'll be taken to another screen that will show you the link you need to insert in your page.

By the way, if you want to have image "Buy Now" links there is a free button image builder at Toma Web. Check it out, it's very easy to use.

If you use FrontPage, or a similar editor, where you highlight a section of text, right click and click on "Add A Hyperlink" then you want to check the next box. This will create a link that you can copy and paste into the hyperlink area that FrontPage presents to you.  If you use an editor, like Notepad, that is raw HTML, don't check the box and you will get the entire HTML code you need to copy and paste into your page. The description you enter below will be the hyperlink that your customer will click on.

The description is what you want to show on your customers' receipt. It will be displayed during the checkout process and on the receipt that's email to your customer. It shouldn't be more than about 50 characters.
Description
An SKU allows you to specifically identify an item that you're selling. This can be valuable in a couple different ways. First, if you're dealing with a fulfillment house or you have a shipping department, the SKU tells them specifically what item to ship.  A second use for an SKU is if you're using the eCOMpal desktop program to update your accounting program. By giving each item an identifier only one item will be added to your item list in your accounting program for each item you sell. Without the SKU it may wind up adding a new item each time you sell something. By the way, an SKU doesn't have to be something formal. It only has to be a different ID for a different product. It can be 100, 101, etc. or A100, B100, etc.

Quantity is normally set to 1. You can set it to whatever value you wish except 0. If you set it to 0 nothing will be ordered! Whatever value you set, other than 0, will be displayed in the shopping cart and will be modifiable by your customer.

Is this item taxable in whatever tax authority you collect Sales tax or VAT? If so, check the box.

What is the price for one item? Enter it in the box below.
Price
How much does the item weigh? This is used to calculate shipping charges. If you're not charging for shipping then you can leave the weight 0. This is used by both UPS shipping and eCOMpal shipping calculations.

Order source is used to track where your orders came from. If you have more than one web site, or you have different pages on your web site that come from different search engines you can identify where the order came from for tracking purposes.

You can add a pass through code when you want to track something from your web site. We don't do anything with this code other than send it back to you when the order has completed.

Can your customers purchase more than one thing? Do you offer a variety of products? If so, you want to give your customer an opportunity to buy more things. Enter the address of the web page (e.g. http://www.mysite.com/continuepage.htm) where your customer can continue to shop. If there's an address, we will display a button "Continue Shopping" to give your customer the opportunity to shop on!

When your customer has completed their order you can direct them to an upsell page, i.e. a page that sells them something else, another product, an upgraded product, a maintenance contract, etc. If you have this available, you can enter the URL of the page here and when the order is complete we will send your customer to this page.

If you are sending your customer back to the cart as a result of purchasing an upsell, you can use this feature to immediately check out. What that means is that we will automatically charge the customer's credit card for the amount of the upsell and take them to the final check out page showing what they've purchased and how much they've been charged. This only works if the customer has already purchased something.

If you're using AutoMail and you want to add the purchaser of this item to a specific email list. Enter the list Id below.  For example, if you a sequence of emails you want to send to someone that a Blue Widget and this link is to sell a Blue Widget then enter the email list for the Blue Widgets.  If this link is for Red Widgets and they have a different email sequence (and by definition a different List ID) you'd enter the List Id for the Red Widget sequence.

Do You Ship UPS?
If you're NOT using UPS Shipping, skip to the end of the page. The following is only for use with UPS shipping. The following entries relate to the package that you're shipping via UPS. When getting shipping rates, each package is rated separately. If a person orders three different items each item will be rated separately. Is this for Recurring Billing?
This is for entering recurring billing fields This specifies the period Days, Months, Quarters, Years that will be used to wait for the next billing cycle. This, combined with the next field, Frequency - determines how often your customer is billed. Frequency Period None Day Month Quarter Annual   This indicates how many days, months, quarters, years between payments. For example if you chose a Frequency Period of Days this would be the number of days between payments, e.g. 30. Frequency Can your customers purchase more than one thing? Do you offer a variety of products? If so, you want to give your customer an opportunity to buy more things. Enter the address of the web page (e.g. http://www.mysite.com/continuepage.htm) where your customer can continue to shop. If there's an address, we will display a button "Continue Shopping" to give your customer the opportunity to shop on!  Number of Payments You can give your customers a trial period by checking Delay Billing. Let us assume you have selected a Frequency Period of Days and Number of days as 30. We will not charge your customer for 30 days. By the way, we do run an Authorize Only transaction or $1 against your customer's credit card to verify it's a valid account. Delay Billing? Bill Shipping is only valid if you have checked Delay Billing. Let's say you want to give a 30 day trial, but you want them to pay for the shipping immediately. You would check Delay Billing so we don't bill for the product immediately and you would check Bill Shipping so we would bill the shipping amount immediately. Bill Shipping? Charge Shipping On Recurring means do you want to charge shipping for each of the subsequent billings? Charge Shipping On Recurring?

When you click the See The Result button you will be sent to another page that will show you the link you've created so you can copy and paste it into your web page. It will also have a button that you can see the result in the eCOMpal shopping cart.
