Step 2. Build your catalog pages.

If you have more than ten catalog items or you want to break you items into groups then you need to set up Catalog Pages. If you don't need, or don't want Catalog Pages, skip to Step 3.

The catalog page is very easy to set up.

Heading is a quick description of what this catalog page is about.

Description is a long description of what this page is about. This would typically be sales oriented description. Why would your customer want to buy things on this page. You have 500 characters for you catalog page description.

Item 1 - 15 are the Catalog Items (the ones you created in Step 1) associated with this catalog page. Select Each Item from the drop down list. If you want to change the sequence the items are presented, just change the list.

Be sure to save your work. You can have up to ten different catalog pages.

Step 3 Set up the Catalog Header.

Heading is the heading for your catalog. It might be something like "My Store the best in some kind of stuff". This is a brief introduction to your store.

Description is the long description of who you are, what you do, and why someone should buy from you. You have up to 1,000 characters for your description.

Your Home Page Address is the address, are you ready, of your home page. This provides a link to get back to your web site.

Full Catalog is a check box that will change the mode from "mini" catalog to "full" catalog. The box is originally unchecked. If you want to use the full catalog, check the box and click the "Update" button. When you open the Catalog Header again it will be in Full Catalog mode.

If you are in "mini" catalog mode you will see a different display than you will in "full" catalog mode.

In "mini" catalog mode the Catalog Header holds all your Catalog Items, right on the front page. Click Here to see a sample of this.

Item 1-10 are the items (The ones you created in step 1) that will be displayed in your catalog. Each item has a drop down list of the items and you choose the items you want to display in each position.

In "full" catalog mode the Catalog Header holds all your Catalog Pages (the ones you created in Step 2), that in turn hold your Catalog Items. Click Here to see an example of this.

Page 1-15 are the Catalog Pages that can be accessed from the Catalog Header. Just select the pages from the drop down list in the sequence you want them to be displayed.

Step 4 - View Your Catalog

Click the Your Catalog link to see what your catalog is going to look like to your customers.

Final Note: To link from your site to your catalog in eCOMpal, all you have to do is set up a link in your site to http://ww2.asafeweb.com/catalog.asp?userid=nnnnn where nnnnn is your user id.

Security Option

You can use our catalog to store all your items and NOT send your customers to the online catalog, but link to the individual catalog items from your order pages.

This provides you with a level of security that you don't get when you send the entire link to the shopping cart. The normal link from your order page to the shopping cart can be modified by your shoppers. For example, they could change the price from $100. to $1. very easily.

We help you get around that by allowing you to enter your items into the catalog. You can enter them online or upload them from QuickBooks or a spreadsheet. Once they're in our catalog, you can build links that refer to the catalog item for price, description, etc. So, instead of your information being exposed the world, it's hidden from your customers. Which means no one can change the price or any other information in the order line.
